Angles sur l'Anglin and Saint Martin de Re on the Ile de Re are in the Poitou-Charentes region of France.
The Anglin river joins the Gartempe very soon after leaving Angles. The Gartempe joins the Creuse at La Roche Posay a spa town 12 km downstream from Angles. The Creuse links with the the Vienne south of the wine town of Chinon which in turn joins the majestic Loire north of Chinon just to the east of Saumur and then to the Atlantic near Nantes. Along the banks of the Anglin and Gartempe are Magdalenian caves, Gallo-Roman and Merovingian sites and many examples of Romanesque architecture in what is called the 'Valley of Frescoes'.
Nearby are the delightful market towns of Le Blanc, Chauvigny, Saint-Savin and Chatellerault . The charming spa town of La Roche Posay is 12km away and offers 18-hole golf course, casino and horse racing.
Just to the east of Angles sur l'Anglin is the Brenne Parc Regional with its 1000+ lakes, wildlife and the home of 150+ nesting species of birds and a further 100+ species of migratory visitors.
Historic Poitiers and the famous Futuroscope are 45 minutes away.
Saint Martin de Re is on the Ile de Re situated just off the west coast of France near La Rochelle. Nearby are the Ile d'Oleron, 
Napoleons' Ile d'Aix, Ile Madame and Fort Boyard, made famous by the TV programme of that name. Just to the south is the old navel port of Rochefort with its famous rope works and the old capital of l'Aquitaine, Saintes.
Angles is in Central France, situated about 30km east of the A10 autoroute exit at Chatellerault and about 45km NE of Poitiers. Tours and the Loire Valley chateaux are about 1 hour's drive north, and La Rochelle on the Atlantic Coast is just over 2 hour's away.
